White Knight Marketing and the Taunton Chamber of CommerceIn just 2 years the Taunton Deane Business Awards have gone from strength to strength, nearly doubling in size from just 6 awards to the 10 it now offers. Last year the evening awards ceremony, held at the Somerset County Cricket club sold out in just 3 weeks of launching and there was even a reserve list for seats thanks to eager businesses wanting to join in the celebrations.

The Awards have been managed for the last two years by White Knight Marketing, a Taunton based marketing agency, with support from local company sponsorship. From 2018, this will change.

“We got involved initially as we could see that Taunton desperately needed something like this to celebrate the great companies we have here: a moment to shine; but I have said right from the beginning that an Award of this type should sit with a not for profit organisation.” said Pam Knight, White Knight’s director

“For the past year we have been looking for a more permanent home for the Awards and we have now found one in Taunton Chamber of Commerce.

“This will be a great natural progression for them and we will work with the Chamber to take the event to its next level”.

Taunton Chamber’s president, Nigel Pearce, has welcomed this new opportunity:

“We see this as a great chance to be part of the Awards evolution.

“When Pam came to us, with the agreement of Awards main sponsors, we could see very quickly what an exciting opportunity it brought with it”.

The Taunton Chamber of Commerce will be the new custodian of the Awards with the team at White Knight Marketing supporting them.

Main Awards sponsors, PKF Francis Clark and Taunton Deane Borough council, are delighted with the arrangement:

“This suits all parties really well and the Chamber offers a natural home for the Awards. We couldn’t be more delighted that the Taunton Chamber will take ownership, supported by the Team at White Knight. There has been a lot of work undertaken to grow them to this point and this move secures the Awards for the future,” commented Martin Lock of PKF Francis Clark.

Cllr Mark Edwards, Deputy leader for Taunton Deane Borough Council is also very happy with the announcement:

“We are very proud sponsors of these Awards and feel they are great for Taunton Deane. We all recognised the need to find them a permanent home to secure their future and the Taunton Chamber fits the bill perfectly.”

The 2018 Awards will be launched in the first week of January with some new categories. Details are available on the website at www.tdba.co.uk
